Format & Materials

Invited Speaker – presentation (Careers Adviser), Individual tasks, Group feedback.

If the invited speaker is a non-signing person, he/she will need to be assisted by a sign language interpreter.

  • CV and Application Form Templates
  • Job descriptions and job specification


 Invited Speaker – Careers Adviser – discusses hints and tips for completing CVs and Application Forms/ Selling Yourself

Participants read examples of strong and weak CVs. They discuss the differences; strengths and weaknesses

The participants receive CV and Application Form templates, and complete the forms, individually or in groups of 2.

Presentation and discussion, focussing on:

  • Personal Statements – meeting the requirements of the post/providing evidence where possible.
  • Do you mention that you are deaf / a sign language user?
  • Written language skills – many deaf people do not feel not confident in this area; how to overcome this, where to seek support?
