Charlie Swinbourne
Charlie is deaf and grew up in a deaf family.His work as a writer/director includes the BSL comedy sketch show Deaf Funny, the Found documentaries, the Four Deaf Yorkshiremen comedies, and hit short film The Kiss.
As a screenwriter, he penned the award-winning TV dramas My Song and Departure Lounge, rude mockumentary Hands Solo, the mini-series The Fingerspellers and YouTube smash Coming Out. He also wrote a short film for NSPCC explaining the charity’s Underwear Rule.
As a journalist, Charlie has written for the Guardian, BBC online, and the Mirror. He has edited The Limping Chicken since 2012, which is now the world’s most popular deaf blog, clocking up over 5 million views.
